                                      A.C.E. Peer Resource Center

A tool donation from AMES helps A.C.E. community garden get off to a good start along with the guidance of Carol Kinsley and other members of "The Spade & Trowel Garden Club." In this picture they celebrate with staff and peers from the A.C.E. Peer Resource Center in Seaford the receipt of a grant of tools and two garden carts provided by AMES Companies Inc. and the National Garden Clubs, Inc. to be used in a new community garden. Founded in 1774, AMES is the largest U.S. manufacturer of gardening tools and has teamed with NGC to provide tools for local club projects.

The Spade & Trowel Garden Club is helping sponsor the ACE community garden with hopes of helping peers at the ACE Center grow their own fresh produce. Use of a sunny location for the garden, located behind the new Dollar General store just across Stein Highway from the Center, is being provided by Oxford Chase Development of Pocomoke City. A local physician has joined garden club members and A.C.E. peers in tilling up the garden so that planting can be done soon. Seeds and plants have been donated, and the peers started many of their own seedlings this winter. Much more work is needed to keep the garden productive and beautify the site. Use of a riding lawn mower would be particularly helpful, as there is a great deal of lawn to maintain. Local residents who would like to get involved may call Linda Williams at the ACE Center, (302) 628-3016, to volunteer.
